Job summary

Humboldt Park Health in Chicago seeks an Education Programs Specialist to develop and implement educational programs that promote clinical and support staff competency and ongoing professional growth.

You will conduct needs assessments, coordinate BLS/CPR training, and support nurses in the research process, while updating patient education materials and aligning with organizational goals.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience required.
  • 5+ years of experience preferred.
  • Bachelor's or MSN or Master's degree in related field preferred.
  • BLS required.
  • RN licensure required.
  • ACLS preferred.
  • TNCC/ENPC preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develops educational programs and activities to promote staff development and competency.
  • Conducts needs assessments and identifies learning needs for clinical and support staff.

Position Summary

Develops and implements educational programs and activities that promote the professional development and competency maintenance of clinical and support staff. Conducts needs assessments, identifies learning needs and provides programs that will improve staff's knowledge base. Participates in and assists nurses in the research process. Reviews and updates patient/family educational material.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Orients and educates staff. Individualizes plans, implements and evaluates new employee’s unit orientation.
  • Plans, implements and evaluates educational programs in response to health care trends, staff learning needs, regulatory, and product or equipment changes.
  • Utilizes principles of education and adult learning to provide opportunities and experiences for professional growth consistent with the novice to expert continuum. Utilizes the process of systematic inquiry to develop educational activities.
  • Contributes educational expertise to facilitate and enhance achievement of individual, departmental, and organizational goals.
  • Maintains knowledge of national and local trends in nursing practice.
  • Promotes continuous improvement and collaborates to implement change.
  • Coordinates BLS training programs.
  • Coordinates CPI training programs.
Department Specific Duties And Responsibilities
  • Medical:

Covers nursing orientation of RNs, new grads, CNAs, coordinates School of Nursing schedules, coordinates BLS/CPR training, teaches BLS/CPR, covers unit‑specific education on 2A/3C.

  • Critical Care:

Covers unit specific education of RNs and CNAs in ER, Telemetry and ICU; coordinates new product education programs; teaches BLS/CPR; back up to orientation.

  • Surgical:

Covers unit specific education of RNs and scrub techs in OR and for C/S in L&D; creates education programs for pre/post op care throughout hospital; teaches BLS/CPR; back up to orientation.

Required Qualifications
  • 3-5 years of experience required
  • 5+ years of experience preferred
  • Bachelor's or MSN or Master's degree in related field preferred.
Licensure and Certification
  • RN licensure required
  • BLS required.
  • ACLS preferred
  • TNCC/ENPC preferred

Where a professional license or certification is required, the candidate must maintain the applicable license or certification throughout employment and comply with applicable renewal and reporting requirements.

Compensation

Pay Range: $105,000 – $125,000 per year

The pay range represents the budgeted compensation range for this position. Final offers may vary based on job‑related factors, including qualifications, education, experience, skill set, internal equity, applicable policies, and other factors permitted by law.
