Job summary

Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, KS is seeking a Clinical Nurse Coordinator Postpartum to lead nursing care and coordination during shifts. The CNC will collaborate with the management team to elevate patient outcomes and support nursing initiatives.

Responsibilities include assessing patients, safety, pain management, postpartum preparation, bonding support, and equipment operation, while ensuring infection control and high-quality care across the unit.

Qualifications

  • RN licensure required (state license)
  • BLS within 30 days of start date
  • NRP within 90 days of start date

Responsibilities

  • Assess patient condition at admission and each shift, reporting changes.
  • Evaluate patient environment for safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Regularly assess pain and perform reassessments after interventions.
  • Prepare postpartum patients and newborns for routine assessments.
  • Support recovery, bonding, breastfeeding and newborn care.
  • Monitor maternal and neonatal status and document care accurately.
  • Operate and maintain equipment such as infant warmers, breast pumps, and monitoring devices.
  • Maintain cleanliness and readiness of patient rooms per infection control standards

Education

RN Diploma/Associate/Bachelor
BLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support)
Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)

Job Summary And Qualifications

The Clinical Nurse Coordinator (CNC) ensures and delivers high quality, patient-centered care and coordination of all functions in the unit/department during the designated shift. In collaboration with other members of the management team, the CNC directs, monitors, and evaluates nursing care in accordance with established policies/procedures, serves as a resource person for staff, and models a commitment to the organization’s vision/mission/values to support an unparalleled patient experience and clinical outcomes that contribute to overall departmental performance

What you will do in this role:
  • Assess patient condition during admission and during each shift as scheduled and/or as needed, identifying and reporting any changes in patient status.
  • Assess patient environment for any safety risks and/or non-compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Assess patient pain regularly to promote effective pain management, including reassessments after appropriate intervention.
  • Prepare postpartum patients and newborns for routine assessments.
  • Assist with recovery and bonding, and supports early breastfeeding and newborn care practices.
  • Observe maternal and neonatal status, including vital signs, pain levels, feeding cues, and emotional well-being; reports concerns and documents care accurately.
  • Operate and maintain equipment such as infant warmers, breast pumps, and monitoring devices.
  • Ensure cleanliness and readiness of patient rooms and supplies in accordance with infection control standards.
What qualifications you will need:
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • Neonate Resuscitate must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date
  • (RN) Registered Nurse
  • Registered Nurse Diploma, or Associate Degree, or Bachelors Degree
