Job summary

WVUH West Virginia University Hospitals in Morgantown, WV, seeks an experienced nurse to provide specialized pediatric care, coordinating the plan of care and acting as a liaison among providers, departments, and schedulers.

Responsibilities include triage, patient education, and ensuring timely testing and referrals. Strong communication and teamwork are essential to support patient populations with comprehensive care. 40-hour weekly schedule, exempt position.

Qualifications

• Current RN license in the state where services will be provided or a multi-state license via eNLC.
• State and federal background checks as required for regulated areas.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provides hands-on care per department and patient needs, including procedures, tests, medications, and specimen collection.
• Acts as first contact for patients, providing triage and medical advice where applicable.
• Coordinates plan of care and liaises with providers, departments, and schedulers to coordinate testing, scheduling, referrals, etc.
• Monitors and manages patient appointments, testing, and labs for the patient population.
• Assists with obtaining prior-authorizations for the patient population.
• Educates and counsels patients about medical conditions, medications, or treatments.
• Offers nursing support in research efforts when applicable.
• Provides guidance to nursing staff across units caring for the same patient population.

Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

• Current Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which services will be provided or current multi-state Registered Nurse license through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
• State criminal background check and Federal (if applicable), as required for regulated areas.
• Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date.

Experience

• Two years’ experience as an RN OR five years’ experience as an LPN required.

Preferred Qualifications

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

• Bachelor's Degree in nursing(BSN).
• Certification relevant to the specialized care they will be providing.

• Attends conferences or educational opportunities to ensure up to date knowledge.
