WVUH West Virginia University Hospitals is seeking a dedicated nurse to provide specialized care and coordinate the plan of care for specific patient populations in Morgantown, WV. The role acts as a liaison among providers, departments, and schedulers to streamline testing, referrals, and appointments.

The nurse will triage patients, deliver education, obtain prior authorizations, and support research activities when applicable.

Qualifications

• Current RN license or multi-state license via the eNLC as required for services.
• Two years’ RN experience or five years’ LPN experience required.
• BLS certification to be obtained within 30 days of hire date.

Responsabilités

• Provides hands-on assistance per department, patient and provider needs, including procedures, tests, medications, and specimen collection.
• Acts as first contact for patients, providing triage and medical advice where applicable.
• Coordinates the plan of care and acts as a liaison between providers, departments and schedulers to coordinate testing, scheduling and referrals.
• Monitors and manages patient appointments, tests and labs for the patient population.
• Assists with obtaining prior-authorizations for the patient population.
• Prepares educational materials for patient use and educates/counsels patients on medical conditions, medications or treatments.
• Provides specialized nursing assistance in research efforts when applicable.
• Provides education and consultation to nursing staff caring for the same patient population.
• Attends conferences or educational opportunities to stay current with knowledge.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Provide specialized care to specific patient populations to optimize care and experience. Coordinates the plan of care and acts as a liaison between providers, departments, other healthcare professionals and schedulers to coordinate testing, scheduling, referrals etc.

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. Current Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which services will be provided or current multi-state Registered Nurse license through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).

2. State criminal background check and Federal (if applicable), as required for regulated areas.

1. Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date.

EXPERIENCE:

1. Two years’ experience as an RNORfive years’ experience as an LPN required.

PREFERREDQUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. Bachelor’s Degree innursing(BSN).

2. Certification relevant to the specialized care they will be providing.

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Provides hands on assistance according tothedepartment, patient and provider needs,including but not limited to assisting with procedures, performing tests,preparing oradministering patient medications, obtaining specimens.

2. Act as first contact for patients,providing triaging and medical advice where applicable.

3. Coordinatesthe plan of careand acts as a liaison between providers, departments, other healthcare professionals and schedulers to coordinate testing, scheduling, referrals etc.

4. Monitors and manages patient’s appointments, testing and labs necessary for thepatient population.

5. Assists with obtaining prior-authorizations for thepatient population.

6. Prepares educational material for patient use. Educatesand counselspatients concerningmedical condition, medication or treatment.

7. Providesspecialized nursing assistance in research efforts when applicable.

8. Provides advice, education and consultation services to nursing staff of any unit that care for the same patient population

9. Attends conferences or educational opportunities to ensure up to date knowledge.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

1. Heavy/Hard work : Work requires strength and/or stamina, lifting, moving, stooping, reaching,

positioning of patients, standing, walking, carrying of patients, materials and equipment weighing

35+lbs.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

1. Position is frequently exposed to blood and bodily fluids; possible exposure to harmful toxins. There is regular exposure to communicable disease.

2. Travel may be necessary in departments with multiple locations.
