Qualifications

• RN license in the state where services will be provided or multi-state license via eNLC.
• BLS certification within 30 days of hire.
• BSN degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collects, documents and analyzes patient health status and medical history; completes admission assessment.
• Formulates and initiates plan of care based on patient needs and establishes care priorities.
• Evaluates and documents effectiveness of interventions; adjusts plan and outcomes; monitors patient condition and provides pain management.
• Assesses patient/family learning needs; provides teaching materials and documents teaching.
• Administers medication with two identifiers; documents administration and effectiveness.
• Scans patient and medication barcodes in Meditech per unit requirements.
• Assists with discharge planning programs.
• Learns and mentors new equipment/procedures; adapts to changes to improve patient care at WVUH-East.
• Supports credentialing/licensing surveys (TJC, Medicare) and quality initiatives.
• Helps meet Core Measure goals and Patient Satisfaction initiatives.
• Implements safety procedures and maintains clean, safe environment.
• Follows safety standards: narcotics counts, incident reports, equipment checks, crash cart checks, medication security.
• Collects and transports specimens; labels correctly in presence of patient.
• Assists leadership to ensure policy/regulatory compliance and budgeting for department.
• Participates in performance and quality initiatives.
• Fosters cooperative relationships across departments to optimize patient care.
• Develops staffing plans with leadership; acts as resource for staff.
• Monitors budget, reduces waste, and ensures safety and quality.
• Ensures staff compliance with policies and infection control.
• Identifies staff educational needs and participates in orientation.
• Attends staff meetings, provides feedback, and assists in staff evaluations and interviews.
• Engages in ongoing learning to stay current with healthcare delivery standards.

Education

Registered Nurse license

Basic Life Support (BLS)

eNLC (Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact)

BSN degree preferred
