Unit Description

The Intensive Care Nursery (ICN) is a 50-bed level 3 NICU caring for premature and critically ill infants, including those with conditions like hypoglycemia, sepsis, and respiratory distress. It also includes a 9-bed level 2 transitional nursery. The unit emphasizes family-centered care, research, and continuous quality improvement.

Role Summary
  • Provide safe, competent nursing care as a full partner on the healthcare team.
  • Demonstrate knowledge, skills, and professional attitude aligned with organizational standards.
  • Work independently applying the nursing process, with accountability for patient care.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care across the continuum.
  • Seek feedback, assume leadership, and adhere to regulatory standards.
Responsibilities
  • Utilize data and QI methods to improve patient safety and care quality.
  • Evaluate and incorporate evidence-based practices for optimal outcomes.
  • Engage in leadership and system thinking to promote effective care delivery.
  • Recognize patients as full partners in their care, respecting their preferences and needs.

Credentials
