Our 32-bed unit cares for patients requiring complex cardiac surgeries and procedures, including CABG, valve repair/replacement, aortic aneurysm repairs, heart and lung transplants, and ventricular assist devices. We utilize advanced critical care technologies such as Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy, Intra-Aortic Balloon Counterpulsation, ECMO, ventilator management, and multiple types of VADs.
The Clinical Nurse 2 practices as a full partner on the healthcare team, demonstrating safe practice within organizational standards. They provide patient care independently, applying the nursing process, and are accountable for their patients, who may range from infants to the elderly. They work within various competency domains, including Quality Improvement, Evidence-Based Practice, Leadership, Person and Family Centered Care, Professionalism, Safety, Technology/Informatics, and Teamwork. They collaborate with interprofessional teams to coordinate care and focus on individualized care considering physical, psychosocial, cultural, educational, safety, and age factors.
