Job summary

Takara Bio USA, Inc. is seeking a Scientist (Clinical NGS) to perform hands-on experiments throughout product development. You will collaborate with R&D, Engineering, Marketing and Operations to move from concept to launch in a lab-based role.

The position requires a Ph.D. with 2-5 years of postdoctoral/industrial experience in clinical NGS, with strong data analysis, DOE methods, and bioinformatics familiarity. Travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in a relevant scientific discipline with 2-5 years of postdoc/industrial experience.
• Experience in clinical NGS assay development, validation, and workflow implementation.
• Solid knowledge of assay design and development for clinical NGS applications.
• Familiarity with JMP and statistical design principles.
• Familiarity with NGS bioinformatics including UNIX, Python and R scripts.
• Experience with product development and tech transfer to manufacturing/QC.
• Familiar with lab procedures, protocols and state-of-art instruments.
• Strong interest in technology development and translating ideas to new applications.
• Analytical thinking, attention to detail, and troubleshooting skills.
• Collaborative with good interpersonal skills and excellent written/spoken communication.
• Experience with DOE principles is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Plan, schedule, and conduct experiments for projects with solid design and data interpretation.
• Meet project goals and deadlines under guidance from Senior Scientists and Marketing.
• Prepare clear reports and maintain lab notebooks and project databases.
• Draft SOPs, user manuals, and technical notes with assistance from team.
• Identify potential new products based on customer demand and market trends.
• Serve as a resource to R&D, Product Management, and Operations during development and launch.
• Lead or support post-launch efforts for quality improvement and customer satisfaction.
• Attend scientific meetings and present posters or speak at conferences.
• Support Sales/Technical Support on technical matters as needed.
• Role does not have supervisory responsibilities.
