Scope of Job

The Department of Neuro and Behavioral Health at the University ofTexas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) seeks a motivated and energeticcandidate for an open rank position in the non-tenure academicclinician track, with expertise in managing and treating variouscognitive specific disorders. These disorders may include but, notbe limited to Alzheimer's disease (or other forms of dementia),Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI), Vascular Cognitive Impairment,Frontotemporal dementia, Traumatic Brain injury, Stroke-relatedcognitive changes, Epilepsy, Neurodegenerative diseases, and braintumors, The successful candidate should also be able to treat othergeneral neurological disorders.

The ideal candidate will continue the growth and sustainability ofthe residency program to include but not be limited to teaching,further developing the Neurology residency (according to ACGMEaccreditation requirements) with GME leaders, ISU, leadingdidactics, sustaining and growing collaborative communitypartnerships in the Rio Grande Valley. Furthermore, the idealcandidate will provide outpatient care at UT Health's NeurologyClinic located at the Institute of Neuroscience and potentiallywith other clinical partners with or without trainees.

Responsibilities will include teaching UTRGV School of Medicinestudents and residents (Neurology, Psychiatry, Internal Medicine,Family Medicine, and Podiatry).The outpatient clinic is located atthe Institute of Neuroscience in Harlingen, Texas.

Minimum Qualifications

M.D. or equivalent with board certification or board eligibilitywith the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology; Subspecialtydesignation in areas like clinical neurophysiology through theAmerican Board of Clinical Neurophysiology (ABCN). Must possess orable to obtain a valid Texas medical license.

UTRGV is a distributed institution. As such and as assigned, theposition may require presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio GrandeValley. Work is performed primarily in a general office environment. This position is security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of the Texas EducationCode §51.215. The retirement plan for this position is TeacherRetirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours perweek and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect theOptional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
