Job summary

Kootenai Health in Sandpoint, Idaho, is seeking a Registered Nurse to support the Cancer Services team. You will assist patients with diagnosis, treatment options, and resources, coordinating with social workers, dietitians, and physicians.

Requirements include a BSN (MSN preferred), RN licensure (Idaho or multi-state compact), at least 3 years of nursing experience, and specialty certification within one year. BLS is required.

Qualifications

  • Licensed as an RN by Idaho Board of Nursing or multi-state compact.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant nursing experience.
  • Certification in specialty area within one year of meeting qualifications.
  • BLS required.

Team Highlights

Kootenai Clinic is the regional cancer treatment center for northern Idaho, eastern Washington, and western Montana. We deliver comprehensive, compassionate cancer care using leading-edge technology, the newest therapies and a wide range of clinical trials as well as rehabilitation. To minimize the difficulties patients, face traveling during treatment,our doctorsoffer cancer treatment in three locations: Coeur d’Alene, Post Falls, and Sandpoint.


Responsibilities

  • Serves as an essential link between patients and all other medical staff
  • Facilitates appointments for consults and support services within established service standards, including social workers, dietitians and physicians
  • Coordinates multidisciplinary planning conferences, develops concise patient summaries for use by the care team and documents recommendations made utilizing standardized care protocols in accordance with nationally recognized care guidelines
  • Develops patient education programs and tools
  • Follows patients throughout the care continuum, including inpatient admissions and collaborates with inpatient care management resources
  • Adheres to established productivity benchmarks; identifies opportunities to reduce the cost of care
  • Responsible for outreach efforts to establish and maintain positive working relationships with medical staff
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
  • Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field
  • Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function
  • Competent to meet age specific needs of the unit assigned

Requirements and Minimum Requirements

  • BSN required; MSN preferred
  • Graduate of a nationally accredited nursing program
  • Licensed as a RN by the Idaho Board of Nursing OR licensure pending as documented by temporary licensure OR current RN licensure from a state participating in the \"multi-state privilege to practice\" compact with Idaho
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant nursing experience required
  • Certification within specialty area required within one year of meeting qualifications
  • BLS required
