Job summary

Kootenai Health in Idaho seeks an experienced RN for the Rapid Response Team. This full-time night shift role focuses on guiding bedside nurses caring for acutely ill patients, with emphasis on defined disease states and 12-hour shifts.

Responsibilities include evaluating practice, driving clinical changes, and educating teams in best-practice management. Ideal candidates have critical care experience and CCRN/ACLS/BLS/NIHSS credentials.

Qualifications

• RN with Idaho license or eligible via temporary licensure
• Minimum 3 years patient-facing RN experience; BSN preferred
• Minimum 1 year in Critical Care; 2 years preferred
• CCRN within 6 months; ACLS and BLS required; NIHSS within 6 months
• Commitment to evidence-based practice and patient-centered care

Responsibilities

• Evaluates practice and drives clinical changes using best practices to achieve the best patient outcomes
• Supports groups in designing and implementing innovative solutions addressing system problems and patient care issues
• Assists teams in process improvement initiatives to improve clinical outcomes
• Educates and supports other clinical providers in the best practice management of assigned disease states
• A certain degree of creativity and latitude is expected
• Performs other related duties as assigned
• Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field
• Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals

Position Summary

Applies advanced nursing knowledge, specialized expertise and experience to guide and support nurses and other clinicians caring for acutely ill patients at the bedside with a focus on assigned disease states.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates practice and helps to drive clinical changes for specific clinical scenarios, and ensures the use of best practices and evidence-based care to achieve the best possible patient outcomes

• Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function
• Competent to meet age specific needs of the unit assigned

Requirements and Minimum Qualifications

• Graduate of a nationally accredited Nursing program
• State of Idaho Registered Nurse or licensure pending as documented by temporary licensure OR current RN licensure from a state participating in the "multistate privilege to practice" compact with Idaho
• Licensed RN with a minimum 3 years’ patient-facing RN experience at time of hire, ADN or diploma required; BSN or higher preferred
• All non-BSN RN's with less than 3 years’ patient-facing RN experience at time of hire are required to be enrolled in a baccalaureate (or higher) degree program in nursing within 1 year of employment, with completion within 3 years of hire
• Minimum 1 year experience in Critical Care required; 2 years’ preferred
• CCRN required within 6 months of hire
• ACLS required
• BLS required
• NIHSS required within 6 months of hire

Working Conditions

• Must be able to maintain a standing position
• Typical equipment used in a clinical job
• Must be able to stoop, crouch, or bend
• Must be able to lift or move up to 35 lbs
• Must be able to push, pull, or transport heavy equipment
• Must be able to assist in patient transfer
• Exposure to needles, blood and body fluids, etc.
• Must be able to reach arms above or below shoulder height
