Job summary

Westchester Medical Center Health Network seeks a Clinical Lab Technologist, Microbiology to perform specialized analyses of blood specimens, ensure proper specimen handling, and communicate results to attending physicians. You will work with cultures, plate identifications, and automated systems under SOPs to support accurate patient care.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or equivalent and NYS licensure with 0–2 years of experience.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or equivalent experience is required.
New York State CLT license or limited permit required.
0–2 years of clinical laboratory technologist experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Performs various clinical analyses in Microbiology.
Records findings on worksheet and labels plates for traceability.
Reads and reports cultures per SOPs and communicates results to physicians.
Collects plates and incubates under specified conditions.
Performs quality control and maintains reagents and equipment.
Interprets test results and notifies abnormal results to clinicians.
Operates automated or specialized microbiology equipment and assists with validations.
Ensures SOP compliance and quality assurance in daily testing.
