Job summary

Mercy Health in Youngstown, OH is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician I (MLT) in Microbiology at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital. The role involves performing routine tests on blood, tissues and other specimens and delivering timely, accurate results under standard procedures.

The MLT must ensure patient safety, uphold quality control, and work evenings and nights in a 40-hour week. Experience in a clinical lab is preferred; certification and ASCP eligibility are required.

Qualifications

• Must have one of the following: AS in Medical Lab Technology.
• Completed 60 semester hours (incl. six hours chemistry and six biology) and completed a Medical Lab Technician Program.
• Completed a 50-week U.S. military medical laboratory training course in the past ten years.

Responsibilities

• Performs analytical tests on biological specimens in a timely, accurate manner.
• Determines acceptability of specimens and recognizes abnormal results.
• Performs quality control and ensures safety of patient information.
• Maintains a safe work environment and troubleshoots equipment.
