Job summary

Genesis HealthCare System’s GCMC Lab seeks a Medical Laboratory Scientist to perform and evaluate blood and body fluid analyses. Day shift, 36 scheduled hours per week, with responsibilities spanning specimen processing, instrument troubleshooting, and quality control.

Required is a Bachelor’s degree with MLS certification or equivalent experience, plus strong communication, confidentiality, and the ability to work independently under pressure in a fast-paced hospital lab environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• MLS certification path options or equivalent experience.
• Excellent interpersonal, decision-making and investigative skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and under pressure.
• Strong written and verbal communication and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Perform, evaluate and submit results on blood and body fluid specimens.
• Maintain specimen integrity and follow test requirements.
• Troubleshoot instrument performance and quality control.
• Keep accurate records and report test information via LIS.
• Assist in phlebotomy, CPA and telecommunications as needed.
• Ensure compliance with CAP, HFAP, OSHA and HIPAA.
• Provide outstanding customer service to internal and external customers.
• Maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times.
