Responsibilities

  • Receive samples from clients and test per SOP; verify results in LIS.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and act on quality control data; identify trends and implement corrective actions.
  • Assist in validation of new laboratory tests and instruments.
  • Perform routine maintenance on equipment; troubleshoot, document, and initiate corrective actions.
  • Follow and enforce all laboratory safety guidelines.
  • Travel to attend instrument training or continuing education as required.
  • Assist with receipt and management of supplies and reagents; prepare and test reagents.
  • Document CFR and other regulatory requirements; maintain detailed records.
  • Contribute to development or revision of laboratory SOPs.
  • Schedule and perform routine maintenance to minimize workflow impact.
  • Support the organization’s mission, values, and high standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Description GC LabTech, Inc. is seeking an experienced Medical Technologist to join our team. GCLT exclusively performs testing for source plasma donation in our state-of-the-art laboratory, combining technology and automation to swiftly process hundreds of thousands of donors annually.JOB DESCRIPTIONResponsible for daily testing in the laboratory or a specialized subsection of the laboratory. This includes testing samples in accordance with Good Laboratory Practice and GC LabTech policies, procedures, and directives regarding sample quality, integrity, and testing.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
  • Receive and access samples from clients. Test samples according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and verify results in the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
  • Perform, monitor, and evaluate quality control data; determine trends, causes, or patterns of acceptability or unacceptability of results and initiate corrective action as needed.
  • Assist in the validation of new laboratory tests and/or instruments.
  • Perform routine maintenance on equipment as needed. Troubleshoot instruments, resolve technical problems, document and initiate corrective action plans, and follow through as needed.
  • Follow, monitor, and enforce all laboratory safety guidelines.
  • Travel as required to attend instrument training or continuing education provided by the manufacturer or other company requirements.
  • Assist with receipt and management of supplies and reagents and notify appropriate personnel when new supplies are needed. Prepare, label, and test reagents as required.
  • Accurately and consistently complete the detailed documentation as required by the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) and other Federal, state, and local regulatory agencies, laws, and GC LabTech policies and procedures.
  • Assist in the development and/or revision of laboratory SOPs.
  • Perform/schedule/plan routine maintenance on equipment as needed to minimize the impact on workflow.
  • Continuously support the organization’s mission, vision, values, and high standards.
  • Any other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in medical technology, biology, microbiology, chemical science, or related life sciences
  • Minimum 5 years of related laboratory experience
  • Ability to work flexible schedule(s) to meet business and production needs
  • Applicant must be authorized to work in the U.S.; the company does not sponsor visas for candidates who require an H-1 B visa
  • Fluently speak, read, and write English. Professional phone and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
Preferred Skills
  • MT/MLS (ASCP) or equivalent is highly desired
  • 3 -5 years of high-volume clinical, reference, or specialty laboratory experience
  • Ability to work in a team environment
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The job responsibilities require frequent standing, walking, sitting, kneeling, stooping, crouching, balancing, lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling up to 50 pounds. Manual dexterity is necessary. Normal color perception is required (color blind test required).

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This job is performed in a professional lab environment. This position is OSHA Category I, as the employee must work under conditions with potential contact with blood or blood components due to splashes, spills, and/or sharps. Immunizations/vaccinations: Hep B vaccination is highly encouraged.
