Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Medical Assistant to support physicians, nurses and staff, ensure efficient patient flow, assist with exams, patient preparation, and clerical tasks in the clinic.

The role emphasizes professional patient interactions, confidentiality, and teamwork. You will prepare exam rooms, take vital signs, perform venipuncture or immunizations as directed, and help with specimen handling.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Certification within six months of employment (CMA/AMT/NCCT/NHA/NRCMA) is expected.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
• 0–2 years of relevant experience and strong computer skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Support physicians, nurses, and staff and facilitate efficient patient flow.
• Assist with exams, vital signs, venipuncture, immunizations, and specimen handling.
• Prepare and stock exam rooms; maintain cleanliness and inventory; dispose of expired items.
• Communicate with patients and care team; participate in staff meetings as needed.
• Perform delegated tasks safely and in accordance with protocols; adhere to privacy guidelines.
• Complete additional duties assigned by supervisor or manager.
