Job summary

UTMB Health in Galveston is seeking a Medical Assistant to provide technical, supportive, age-specific patient care in an outpatient clinic. You will assist with patient flow, take vital signs, and document chief complaints and visit reasons.

Under physician supervision, perform patient care procedures, collect specimens, refill medications as directed, and maintain equipment and a clean, safe environment while upholding patient confidentiality.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Certified or Registered Medical Assistant (or graduate of an approved program) is required.
• CPR Certification required.

Responsibilities

• Assists with patient flow within outpatient clinic setting.
• Obtains vital signs and documents chief complaint and reason for visit.
• Performs patient care skills and follows policy/procedure, including specimen collection and basic tests.
• Refills patient medications as directed and administers meds safely.
• Documents/communicates interventions and measures; maintains patient records.
• Maintains equipment, supplies, and a clean, safe environment.
• Supports patient rights and confidentiality; acts as patient/family advocate.
