Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Completion of a Medical Assistant training program with certificate, or 1–3 years of related experience.
• Successful completion of the Northwell Health Medical Assistant training program is acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with health care team to coordinate and implement patient care plans.
• Performs vital signs, height, weight, and screening procedures; documents findings.
• Collects specimens and assists providers; labels and routes specimens.
• Performs daily controls and calibration of laboratory equipment; informs supervisor of issues.
• Perform electrocardiograms and phlebotomy per provider orders; maintain infection control standards.
• Assist physicians and nurses with special procedures and examinations; prepare supplies and assist patient.
• Maintain clean examination rooms; stock supplies and complete required logs.
• May assist with pre-visit chart preparation by ensuring required lab results are available.
• Handle clerical duties: filing papers, processing forms, phone calls; assure patient flow.
