Job summary

Northwell Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to provide patient care under physician and nurse supervision. Responsibilities include preparing patients, collecting specimens, performing phlebotomy and ECGs, and supporting the care team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Completion of a Medical Assistant training program with certificate OR 1–3 years of experience as a medical assistant, EMT, or certified nursing attendant, with valid certificate.
• Additional salary detail: The salary range and/or hourly rate listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation and may be modified in the future.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with health care team to coordinate and implement plans for patient care.
• Performs vital signs, measurements, and screening procedures and documents findings.
• Collects specimens and assists with processing and labeling.
• Performs daily controls and calibration of laboratory equipment as needed.
• Performs electrocardiograms and phlebotomy per provider orders; adheres to infection control standards.
• Assists physicians and nurses with procedures and examinations following protocols.
• Maintains cleanliness and stock levels in examination rooms; completes required logs and checks.
• Assists with pre-visit chart preparation and clerical duties to ensure efficient patient flow.
• All responsibilities are essential functions under relevant regulations.
