Job summary

Seneca Nation Health System is seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant to support clinical and administrative duties in the medical unit. The role includes updating histories, taking vitals, assisting with examinations, and maintaining accurate records in the EHR.

The successful candidate will hold a current CMA certification, have at least one year of clinical experience, and possess CPR/BLS certification. Experience in larger hospital settings or IHS/tribal health is preferred.

Qualifications

• Must possess and maintain a current Medical Assistant Certification (AAMA/CMA/RMA).
• Minimum 1 year of clinical experience required.
• Current CPR/BLS required.
• Experience in a large hospital, academic medical center, outpatient health care setting, or Indian Health Service (IHS)/tribal health, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in patient care by updating medical history with medications and allergies, taking vital signs, preparing examination areas, and performing phlebotomy duties.
• Prepare patients for and assist providers and nurses with examinations and procedures.
• Keep patient records accurate and up to date in the EHR; review rosters and inform care teams of changes.
• Obtain clinical data from patients and document in the electronic health record; assist with scheduling and tracking appointments.
• Maintain a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment; provide trauma-informed care and clear communication with patients and families.
• Handle general inventory, office duties, cleanliness, and stocking to support patient care.
• Attend mandatory staff meetings and adhere to department and SNHS policies.
