Job summary

Wheeling Hospital is seeking a medical assistant who performs basic nursing skills under the supervision of physicians and registered nurses. You will greet patients, obtain vital signs, prepare rooms, assist with exams, and support clerical duties.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, completion of a medical assistant program (or 1 year clinical experience), and BLS certification within 30 days of hire. 40-hour work week is typical.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Graduate of a Medical Assistant Program or 1 year of clinical experience.
• BLS certification to be obtained within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Greets and escorts patient to exam rooms and gathers initial information and vital signs.
• Prepares exam rooms for patients with focus on cleanliness and supplies.
• Assists with and/or performs exams, tests, and procedures.
• Schedules appointments and coordinates referrals as needed.
• Assists providers during examinations and procedures.
• Educates patients on follow-up expectations.
• Maintains quality control testing logs as required.
• Ensures all medical equipment is functioning properly.
• Assists with completion of medical documentation and basic office tasks.
