Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Graduate of a Medical Assistant program.
• Graduates of an accredited 2-year Medical Assistant associates degree program (not required but highly preferred).
• Ability to pass MA Certification/Registration exam within the first six months of employment.
• Current CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patients for examination and assists with immunizations.
• Assists with laboratory requisitions and lab pick-up.
• Updates and maintains patient charts.
• Answers telephone calls and callbacks as instructed by RN or provider.
• Performs simple medical procedures and routine tests (BS, UA, Pregnancy, Strep, blood draws, TB tests).
• Cleans and sterilizes equipment/instruments and restocks examination rooms.
• Maintains logs and records for clinical area and may supervise students or temporary staff.
• Relieves and substitutes for other medical assistants as needed.
• Supports Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) quality initiatives.
