Job summary

Northwell Health in New York is seeking a Medical Assistant to perform patient care under the physician's or nurse's direct supervision, prepare patients for examinations, and record diagnostic lab results.

You will assist in coordinating care, prep and file reports in the medical record, take vital signs, collect specimens, and support clinicians during procedures while following infection control protocols.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Completion of Medical Assistant training with certificate or 1–3 years experience as MA/EMT/CNA, or successful completion of Northwell Health MA training.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with health care team to coordinate patient care and document visit reasons.
• Performs vital signs, measurements, and screening procedures and records findings.
• Collects specimens and assists with lab requisitions and routing.
• Performs daily controls and calibration of lab equipment as needed.
• Executes EKGs and phlebotomy per orders and follows infection control standards.
• Assists physicians and nurses with procedures, ensuring patient safety and supplies.
• Maintains clean exam rooms, stocks supplies, and completes required logs.
• Performs clerical tasks to ensure smooth patient flow through the suite.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

Medical Assistant training program with certificate

Experience as MA/EMT/CNA or Northwell MA training program
