Job summary

UMass Amherst seeks a Medical Assistant to support providers with patient care, clerical tasks, and organization under RN/NP/PA/MD supervision. The position is onsite in Amherst, full-time, reporting to the RN Clinical Manager.

Responsibilities include patient intake, immunizations, basic procedures, documentation, insurance verification, appointment scheduling, and supply management. Candidates should have strong communication, HIPAA compliance, and CPR readiness within six months.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree or CMA/RMA/CCMA certification required.
• Ability to lift and transfer patients.
• CPR certification within six months of hire.
• Strong communication and telephone etiquette.
• Basic knowledge of insurance plans.

Responsibilities

• Assist providers with patient care and intake assessments.
• Administer medications/injections under supervision.
• Perform vital signs, EKGs, and other measurements.
• Maintain documentation and HIPAA compliance.
• Schedule appointments and verify insurance.
• Maintain clinic supplies and cleanliness.
• Assist with referrals and forms.
