Job summary

Qualifications

• Two (2) years experience in a busy physician office, preferred.
• Ability to take vital signs including height, weight, blood pressure, temperature and pulse
• Must have computer experience and learn practice IS system
• Demonstrates proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Previous experience with an EMR system preferred
• Excellent customer service and organizational skills
• Requires reasoning ability and good independent judgment

Responsibilities

• Perform basic administrative medical assisting functions
• Assist in obtaining patient history, chief complaint and vital signs as necessary
• Schedule, coordinate and monitor appointments
• Understand and adhere to managed care policies and procedures
• Keep rooms neat, clean and well stocked with supplies
• Set up rooms as needed for in office procedures
• Assist physician with in office procedures as needed
• Monitor schedule to ensure medical records are obtained prior to visits
• Comply with quality assurance practices
• Screen, collect and follow up on patient test results
• Collect and process specimens accurately and timely
• Perform diagnostic and laboratory tests and wound care as necessary
• Adhere to established patient screening procedures
• Assist with authorization, preparation, and administration of medications
• Authorize drug refills and provide prescription information to pharmacies
• Prepare and maintain patient files in an orderly fashion
• File/scan information in charts after provider review
• Provide timely communication of results to practitioners
• Assist with referrals and appointment coordination
• Inventory supplies and equipment as needed
• Clean and sterilize instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies
• Answer and direct all phone calls appropriately
• Communicate effectively with staff
• Adhere to assigned projects/tasks
• Volunteer for special assignments/projects
• Perform other duties as assigned
