Job summary

UTHealth Houston’s Bayshore Multispecialty Clinic seeks a Full-Time Medical Assistant to support providers and patients in a multispecialty outpatient setting. You will help ensure care is delivered safely, efficiently, and with compassion as part of a collaborative clinical team.

The role emphasizes patient-centered service, rooming patients, performing basic testing, and supporting routine and specialty procedures. Must have a high school diploma and BLS certification.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of an approved Medical Assistant training program preferred.
• Six months experience or completion of an approved Medical Assistant Training Program.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Responsibilities

• Promotes quality patient care and customer service/satisfaction.
• Assists planning for patient visits ensuring schedules, test results, and clinic requirements are available.
• Rooms patients and documents chief complaint, vital signs, medication list, allergies, smoking history, and other information.
• Performs hearing/vision testing, EKG, spirometry, point-of-care testing, specimen collection, and room cleaning/reprocessing as required.
• Prepares and stocks rooms and supplies; cleans rooms between patients.
• Assists with routine and specialty procedures.
• Schedules follow-up appointments or referrals and handles clerical tasks like photocopying, scanning, and faxing.
• Performs telephone messaging and in-person screening with appropriate follow-up.
• Maintains HIPAA privacy and confidentiality.
