Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is hiring a Medical Assistant to support physicians, nurses, and staff by ensuring efficient patient flow and providing clinical and administrative support in an outpatient clinic.

The position requires a High School diploma or GED, BLS/CPR certification, and completion of a recognized MA program or equivalent on-the-job training. Candidates must meet eligibility for MA certification within six months of employment and possess strong computer skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• American Heart Association BLS/CPR certification.
• Signed onboarding acknowledgement that certification must be attained within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Assures efficient patient flow through the site; escorts patient to exam room and identifies patient.
• Obtains accurate vital signs per organization standards.
• Documents reason for visit and updates allergies, smoking history and pharmacy information.
• Informs provider of significant changes in vital signs or acute symptoms.
• Assists practitioner with medical and surgical procedures (ECG, venipuncture, immunizations, CLIA waivered tests).
• Prepares and stocks exam rooms and maintains equipment and supplies.
