Job summary

Atrium Health is seeking a Medical Assistant at the Winston-Salem practice. The role supports routine and complex clinical tasks, patient prep, and specimen collection in a 40-hour, weekday schedule.

Responsibilities include assisting physicians, performing lab procedures, administering routine medications, and ensuring smooth clinic flow within a 8:00am–5:00pm schedule. BLS and MA certification are required; prior experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required; Associate’s Degree in Medical Assisting preferred.
• Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Current MA certifications (CMA/CCMA/NCMA/RMA etc.) required or as listed.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and rooms the patient for exam by obtaining vital signs and gathering/documenting health information.
• Performs laboratory procedures using aseptic technique and infection control guidelines.
• Assists physicians with procedures such as pelvic exams, scratch testing, EMG, and colposcopy.
• Administers routine medications under physician orders or protocols.
• Follows through with test requests and referrals; communicates with the care team for smooth clinic flow.
• Performs basic clinical support tasks under supervision as needed.
• Provide care appropriate to the patient age and development throughout the visit.
