Job description

La Casa Norte’s mission is to empower youth and families facing homelessness with the tools to achieve lasting independence and stability.

Summary of Responsibilities

The Clinical Manager provides clinical leadership, supervision, and oversight for La Casa Norte's Behavioral Health and supportive service programs. This position is responsible for supporting high-quality, trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and evidence-based behavioral health services.

The Clinical Manager provides direct supervision, guidance, and support to pre-licensed clinicians, direct service staff, interns, and other designated staff while ensuring that clinical services, documentation, risk management, and treatment planning are completed in accordance with Illinois law, professional ethical standards, and organizational policies. This role helps ensure equitable access to culturally and linguistically responsive mental health services while informing clinical oversight, program development, and staff support.

The Clinical Manager will also play an active role in developing and strengthening behavioral health services, including clinical workflows, policies, documentation standards, staff training, and quality assurance practices.

Staff and Intern Supervision

• Provide clinical supervision, consultation, and support for complex cases, high-risk client situations, crisis response, and safety concerns, including suicidal ideation, self-harm, homicidal ideation, abuse, neglect, interpersonal violence, and psychiatric emergencies.
• Guide clinicians on mandated reporting, duty to warn/protect, confidentiality, professional boundaries, ethical decision-making, and compliance with applicable privacy and licensing requirements.
• Support clinicians in the implementation of evidence-based, trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and linguistically appropriate clinical interventions.
• Provide supervision, mentorship, documentation review, licensure-related verification, and professional development support for pre-licensed clinicians and other staff.
• Conduct clinical chart reviews, monitor documentation quality, caseload complexity, and clinical standards, and support quality assurance, outcome measurement, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
• Participate in interdisciplinary case consultations and collaborate with housing, case management, medical, psychiatric, substance use, and community-based providers to promote integrated client care.
• Support the development, implementation, and evaluation of behavioral health policies, procedures, protocols, and program requirements, including crisis response, clinical supervision, referral and discharge planning, mandated reporting, and grant-funded initiatives.
• Contribute to continued growth, effectiveness, and expansion of behavioral health services.
• Provide effective leadership by adapting management styles as appropriate.
• Conduct regular 1:1 supervision with assigned team, provide ongoing support and feedback as needed to ensure successful program delivery and strategic objectives are achieved.
• Administer probationary and annual performance review and employee goal plan
• Maintain quality of services and resolve conflicts.
• Promote continuous learning and peer mentorship.

Direct Clinical Services

• Carry a caseload of youth clients primarily in shelter or transitional housing settings focusing on the use of individual, group or family treatment modalities.
• Conduct intake, diagnostic, biopsychosocial, and mental status assessments.
• Conduct individual, family, and group therapy, including psychoeducation and evidence-based, trauma-informed interventions.
• Crisis intervention, suicide and homicide risk assessment, safety planning, and treatment planning.
• Care coordination, case consultation, and referrals to higher levels of behavioral health care when clinically appropriate.
• Short-term clinical support and stabilization services for newly arrived migrants, immigrants, refugees, and other community members accessing services through the Illinois Welcoming Center, CityKey, and related programs.

Quality Assurance and Data Management

• Promote equity in service access and delivery.
• Develop, implement, and monitor treatment or service plans in alignment with supervision and agency policy.
• Maintain accurate client documentation in accordance with agency, funder, and HIPAA requirements.
• Maintain accurate program data and documentation, including ClientTrack, HMIS, Caseworthy, daily logs, quarterly reports, and/or annual program reports.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in social work or counseling with clinical certification (LCSW, or LCPC) Required.
• Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness, substance use, or trauma preferred.
• Demonstrated commitment to equity, harm reduction, and recovery-oriented approaches.
• Reliable vehicle with insurance and valid driver’s license Required.
• Skilled in group facilitation and diverse environments.
• Strong working knowledge of housing first, harm reduction, and trauma-informed care principles.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to pass a DCFS Background Check.
