The Clinical Liaison is primarily responsible for referral development activities associated with the Mercy Acute Rehabilitation Unit and acts as a liaison between internal and external referral sources and internal operations. The liaison will participate in community and corporate events and reflect the organization's mission, core values, and ethics.

The Clinical Liaison is responsible for establishing relationships with physicians, payers, and other referral sources. This position will ensure appropriate patient placement through clinical assessments and screening in conjunction with the internal team.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Identifying and qualifying new business development opportunities and overseeing the capture management and proposal development processes.
  2. Conducting sales calls on existing and potential referral sources to maintain a steady flow of referrals and perform problem solving as necessary.
  3. Following up on internal and external problems related to the referral and admission process to ensure rapid solutions.
  4. Maintaining knowledge of and effectively promoting programs and internal resources.
  5. Assisting with updating, revising, and formulating related policies and procedures with assistance from Facility Administrator/Program Director as appropriate.
  6. Functioning as a resource for team members and providing in-service/cross-training on acute rehabilitation criteria, diagnostic case management, coding, etc.
  7. Scheduling and conducting presentations and tours of the acute rehabilitation unit to referral sources, professionals, and family members.
  8. Working directly with the unit Medical Director on patient admissions, including completing detailed Pre-Admission Screens.
  9. Collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to ensure excellent coordination of care from admission to discharge.
  10. Providing patient updates to physicians, payers, case managers, social workers, and other relevant persons.
  11. Reviewing patient medical charts and understanding pharmaceuticals, test results, therapy evaluations, pre-existing conditions, with a general medical knowledge of the patient.
Minimum Education

Required: 4-year Bachelor's Degree

Specialty/Major: RN, Social Work, SLP, PT, OT

Licensure/Certifications

Must be non-expired/active unless otherwise stated. Required: Current BLS CPR card. Must be a graduate of an accredited RN/PT/OT/SLP program with current state licensure. Preferred: 3-5 years experience in an acute rehabilitation setting.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience.
