Position Overview

The Clinical Liaison is responsible for referral development activities related to the Mercy Acute Rehabilitation Unit. The role acts as a liaison between internal and external referral sources and internal operations. The liaison will participate in community and corporate events, reflecting the organization's mission, core values, and ethics.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Establish and maintain relationships with physicians, payers, and other referral sources.
  2. Ensure appropriate patient placement through clinical assessments and screening in collaboration with the internal team.
  3. Identify and qualify new business development opportunities, overseeing capture management and proposal development processes.
  4. Conduct sales calls on existing and potential referral sources to maintain a steady flow of referrals and address issues as they arise.
  5. Proactively seek opportunities to increase profitability, efficiency, and market share.
  6. Follow-up on internal and external problems related to referral and admission processes to ensure rapid solutions.
  7. Assist in updating and revising policies and procedures with the Facility Administrator/Program Director.
  8. Provide team members with in-service and cross-training on acute rehabilitation criteria, diagnostic case management, coding, etc.
  9. Schedule and conduct presentations and tours of the acute rehabilitation unit to referral sources, professionals, and families.
  10. Market the unit through community outreach, including newspapers and television.
  11. Collaborate with the Medical Director on patient admissions, completing detailed Pre-Admission Screens as per policies and payer requirements.
  12. Coordinate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure seamless care from admission to discharge.
  13. Provide patient updates to physicians, payers, case managers, social workers, and other relevant parties.
  14. Review patient medical charts and understand pharmaceuticals, test results, therapy evaluations, and pre-existing conditions.
Minimum Education and Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's Degree required, with a major in RN, Social Work, SLP, PT, or OT.

Licensure/Certifications: Must hold a current, active BLS CPR card and be a graduate of an accredited RN/PT/OT/SLP program with current state licensure. Preferred: 3-5 years of experience in an acute rehabilitation setting.

Experience: At least 1 year of relevant experience.
