Job summary

Harbor Health in Austin, TX is seeking a Clinical Lead to guide our Medical Assistant team and ensure smooth clinic operations while delivering member-centered care.

Qualifications

  • High School degree or equivalent is required.
  • CMA certification or ability to renew/apply is required.
  • Minimum 4 years in primary care, with at least 1 year in a lead/supervisory role.
  • Current CPR certification is required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day leadership, guidance, and mentorship to Medical Assistant staff.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for MA workflow questions and scheduling.
  • Collaborate with clinical team to execute care tasks as ordered by providers.
  • Monitor team performance and coach for quality and efficiency.
  • Develop and enforce MA policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Deliver care per each member's care plan and assist with immunizations.
  • Chart in EHR and audit MA charting practices as needed.
  • Assist with minor procedures and supportive functions.
  • Coordinate staff schedules and coverage across shifts.
  • Act as liaison between MA staff and clinic management.

Position Overview

Harbor Health is seeking a skilled Clinical Lead to join our growing team. Harbor Health is an entirely new multi-specialty clinic group in Austin, TX utilizing a modern approach to co-create health with those who get, give, and pay for it — allowing everyone to fully flourish. As a critical member of our clinical team, you will help ensure smooth clinic operations while delivering compassionate, member-centered care that aligns with our mission of transforming healthcare through our payvider model.

Position Duties & Responsibilities
  • Provide day-to-day leadership, guidance, and mentorship to Medical Assistant staff, including onboarding and training of new team members
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for MA-related workflow questions, escalations, and scheduling needs
  • Collaborate with the clinical team and clinic leadership to execute care tasks as ordered by providers
  • Monitor clinical team performance and workflows, providing feedback and coaching to support quality and efficiency
  • Assist in developing, implementing, and enforcing clinic policies, procedures, and protocols for the MA team
  • Deliver care in accordance with each member's individualized care plan
  • Perform client intake, collect lab specimens, and administer immunizations
  • Chart accurately in electronic medical records (EHR) and audit charting practices of MA team as needed
  • Assist with minor procedures and other supportive functions for the clinical team
  • Oversee completion of opening and closing tasks each day to ensure the clinic is prepared for daily operations
  • Coordinate staff schedules and coverage to ensure adequate clinical support across shifts
  • Support the care team to ensure members' needs are met and hand-offs are appropriately conducted
  • Act as a liaison between MA staff and clinic management, escalating concerns and championing team needs
  • Assist with inventory management, supply ordering, and equipment maintenance oversight
Desired Professional Skills & Experience
  • High School Degree or equivalent
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or ability to renew/apply for certification
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in primary care or similar clinical environment, including at least 1 year in a lead, charge, or supervisory capacity
  • Current CPR Certification
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, including experience training, mentoring, or supervising clinical staff
  • Computer proficiency with the ability to enter information in EHR systems and compile reports or data as requested
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English
  • Excellent customer service and support skills; ability to organize and prioritize workload, delegate tasks, and meet deadlines
  • Effective and professional communication — verbal and written — with persons from diverse cultural, socioeconomic, educational, racial, ethnic, and professional backgrounds
  • Consistent demonstration of positive, proactive customer service and ethical behavior
  • Ability to work effectively as a team leader and member while functioning independently with sound judgment
  • Flexibility to shift priorities, maintain confidentiality, and establish effective interpersonal work relationships across all levels of the organization
  • Strong conflict-resolution and problem-solving skills
Preferred
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish
  • BLS Certification
  • Phlebotomy Certification
  • Prior formal experience in a Lead, Charge, or Supervisor MA role
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to work rotating shifts in a physically demanding, moderate-stress environment
  • Exposure to blood, body fluids, communicable diseases, and repetitive motions
  • Full range of body motion including handling and lifting clients
  • Light to moderate work with 50 lbs. maximum weight to lift and carry
  • Ability to reach, bend, stoop, handle objects, talk and/or hear, and see
