Job description

If so, LabCorp wants to speak with you about exciting opportunities to join our team at Dell Children's Medical Center in Austin, TX. In this position, you will work in a fast-paced, customer-focused, and challenging environment, contributing to our mission at LabCorp: "Improving Health, Improving Lives."

Schedule: 3rd shift; 4x10's (9 p.m. - 7:30 a.m.) with weekend rotation

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
  2. Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures.
  3. Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
  4. Make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
  5. Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls.
  6. Report accurate and timely test results to deliver quality patient care.
  7. Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.
  8. Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.
  9. Assist with processing of specimens when needed.
  10. Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's degree in a Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or meet local regulatory (CLIA & State) requirements.
  2. Minimum 1 year of clinical laboratory testing experience or an MLS degree.
  3. ASCP or AMT certification is preferred.
  4. Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  5. Proficient with computers; familiarity with laboratory information systems is a plus.
  6. High attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills.
  7. Must pass a standardized color vision screen.
  8. Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs.
