Clinical Laboratory Technologist Part Time -Eve Core Lab

Position Summary

At Stony Brook Medicine, a Clinical Laboratory Technologist/Technician is a valuable member of our team, providing clinical services to our patient population. They maintain specific knowledge of safe laboratory practices endorsed by the New York State Department of Health and OSHA, conducting themselves accordingly to ensure safety. Qualified candidates will demonstrate superior patient care, outstanding communication skills, and adhere to our high standards of excellence.

Duties of a Clinical Laboratory Technologist may include but are not limited to:
  • Line responsibility for performing clinical analyses in the Department of Laboratories.
  • Perform routine instrument maintenance and troubleshooting according to established protocols.
  • Adhere to all quality control policies and procedures.
  • Proficient in computer protocols as assigned.
  • Follow all SBUH and departmental policies and protocols.
  • Perform high complexity coagulation/chemistry testing using manual and automated methods.
  • Perform assays requiring multiple dilutions with impeccable technique.
  • Assist in implementing and validating new procedures.
  • Engage in continuing education, including attending conferences and offsite training.
  • Interact professionally with nursing staff, physicians, support staff, peers, and hospital community.
  • Perform other clinical duties as assigned.
  • Work every other weekend, with pass days and holidays as assigned.
Qualifications

Required:

  • NY State licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist or eligibility, including provisional/limited permit, with 0-2 years relevant experience (SL-1).
  • NY State licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist or eligibility, including provisional/limited permit, with 3-5 years relevant experience (SL-2).
  • NY State licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist or eligibility, including provisional/limited permit, with at least 6 years relevant experience (SL-3).

Preferred:

  • Strong background in Hematology and Chemistry as a Generalist.
  • ASCP Certification.
  • Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology or Biological/Life Sciences.
  • Master’s Degree.

Compensation

The salary range is $87,394 - $110,838/year, based on experience. Additional pay includes location pay, shift differential, and geographic pay. Benefits include leave, health plans, and a pension.
