Position Summary

At Stony Brook Medicine, a TH Clinical Laboratory Technologist IV is a key team member demonstrating high technical competence and knowledge of current methods and techniques. Qualified candidates will provide excellent patient care, possess outstanding communication skills, and adhere to our high standards of excellence.

Responsibilities

• Perform plating, isolating, analyzing, and bacterial identification according to departmental protocols.
• Work in microbiology bench in a team environment with responsibility for accurate lab methods.
• Verify results, identify inconsistencies, and correct as needed.
• Operate and maintain lab instruments and equipment, including routine maintenance.
• Maintain quality control records for media and reagents following established procedures.
• Proficiently use computer/LIS systems.
• Train CLS students, staff, residents, and fellows.
• Engage in continuing education.
• Interact professionally with staff, physicians, and the community.
• Follow all policies and protocols.
• Perform other clinical duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required (based on resume): NYS licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist or eligibility, with 0-2 years relevant experience for SL-1; 2-5 years for SL-2; at least 6 years for SL-3.

Preferred: Bachelor's in Medical Technology, Microbiology, or Life Science; Microbiology or generalist registry; recent clinical bacteriology and LIS experience.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary range: $87,394 - $110,838/year, based on experience. Additional pay options available. Benefits include leave, health plans, and pension.
