Job description

Join to apply for the CLINICAL LABORATORY TECHNOLOGIST role at Montefiore Health System.

This position is located at the Moses campus in the Microbiology Lab. The hours are 5:00 PM - 1:30 AM with alternate weekends.

Responsibilities:

1. Perform routine and emergency tests on blood, serum, spinal fluid, and other body fluids using automated and manual equipment, ensuring timely completion.
2. Review data prior to release and report abnormal or panic values.
3. Maintain quality control data, resolve QC failures, and document actions as per laboratory procedures.
4. Prepare reagents, manage inventory, and assist with equipment maintenance logs.
5. Assist with answering calls and entering orders in the LIS system.
6. Potentially oversee laboratory unit work and provide leadership to technicians.
7. Assist in training new employees and maintain a clean work environment following Infection Control guidelines.
8. Perform other laboratory tasks under supervision as needed.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in a physical science; medical technology preferred.
• New York State Department of Education Clinical Laboratory Technologist License or limited permit required; provisional permit needed within three months.
• Experience with laboratory and hospital information systems, automated equipment, and other lab instruments required.
