Job summary

Labcorp seeks a Clinical Lab Professional to join the team at Ascension Via Christi St.Joseph Emergency Department in Wichita, KS. Schedule: Mon–Fri 2:15 pm–10:45 pm with rotating weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities include specimen acceptability, routine and complex testing, instrument troubleshooting, reagent evaluation, and timely result reporting to support high-quality patient care. Requires an associate degree in a chemical/biological science and ASCP/AMT certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher in a chemical/biological science or clinical lab field.
• Preference for 2+ years clinical laboratory testing experience with ASCP/AMT certification.
• Ability to operate in a regulated lab environment with accuracy and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to criteria.
• Perform routine and complex procedures per SOPs.
• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper function.
• Make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls.
• Report accurate test results to support patient care.
• Perform preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as needed.
• Assist with processing of specimens when required.
• Maintain a safe work environment and PPE usage.

LabCorp is seeking a Clinical Lab Professional to join our team at Ascension Via Christi St.Joseph Emergency Department in Wichita, KS.

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 2:15 pm - 10:45 pm, Rotating Weekends & Holidays

Job Responsibilities:

• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
• Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
• Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
• Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
• Assist with processing of specimens when needed
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment

Minimum Qualifications:

• Associate’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology

Preferred Qualifications:

• 2 years or more of clinical laboratory testing experience ASCP or AMT certification

Additional Job Standards:

• In lieu of education requirements listed above, non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits that meet CLIA standards may meet education requirement
• Familiarity with laboratory information systems
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment
• Proficient with computers
• High level of attention detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
• Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
• Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
