Job description

Join MD Anderson's Molecular Diagnostic Laboratory as a Clinical Laboratory Supervisor and help lead the specialized testing operations that support accurate diagnoses and exceptional cancer care. You'll combine technical expertise with hands‑on leadership to oversee daily laboratory activities, maintain rigorous quality standards, and guide a team responsible for delivering reliable clinical testing at one of the world's leading cancer centers.

What's in it for you? This is an opportunity to take ownership of laboratory operations while serving as a technical resource and people leader. You'll supervise daily workflows, troubleshoot complex testing and computer-related challenges, maintain and update standard operating procedures, and lead the evaluation and validation of new methodologies, tests, and instrumentation. You'll also contribute to laboratory information system (LIS) and electronic medical record (EMR) implementations, helping ensure systems and processes support efficient, high-quality testing.

You'll have a direct impact on team performance, professional development, and laboratory culture. From onboarding and training employees to conducting competency assessments, coaching staff, managing schedules, and addressing performance concerns, you'll help build a cohesive team focused on communication, accountability, and excellence. You'll also identify and lead process improvements that strengthen productivity and laboratory operations while ensuring every phase of testing-from pre-analytical through post-analytical-is performed according to established procedures.

Quality and regulatory compliance are central to this role. You'll oversee quality control, quality assurance, and quality improvement activities; support compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements; coordinate proficiency testing in accordance with CAP standards; and participate in mock inspections and other quality surveillance activities. You'll also help evaluate new tests and processes through test cost analysis, business planning, training, and implementation, while ensuring laboratory supplies and equipment are available to meet operational needs. MD Anderson offers competitive pay, an annual merit increase program, annual incentive opportunities, an employer-funded pension contribution, medical, dental and vision coverage, generous paid time off, and opportunities for professional growth and development.
