Job description

As a Transfusion Services Technical Manager, you'll lead the people, processes, and technical operations that support safe, high-quality transfusion care for patients at one of the world's leading cancer centers. This is an opportunity to combine your advanced transfusion medicine expertise with strong people leadership, helping shape strategy, develop talent, strengthen quality, and build a cohesive team committed to excellence.

What's in it for you? You'll have meaningful influence over the direction and performance of the Transfusion Services team. You'll develop strategies, policies, and goals; establish and monitor quality and turnaround-time standards; oversee regulatory compliance; and use quality improvement data to identify opportunities for better performance. Just as importantly, you'll have the opportunity to build a team culture where people feel supported, motivated, accountable, and empowered to succeed.

You'll lead the full employee lifecycle, from recruiting and selecting talented laboratory professionals to onboarding, performance management, retention, continuing education, and cross-training. This role calls for a visible and engaging leader who can bring people together around common goals, communicate effectively across the division and institution, navigate challenges with confidence, and develop a productive team environment. You'll also oversee resources, productivity, inventory, purchasing, vendor relationships, and financial performance while identifying innovative opportunities to improve efficiency and manage costs.

Your technical expertise will be equally important as you help ensure testing practices, quality control, regulatory requirements, and operational processes meet the highest standards. You'll collaborate across the institution, contribute to division-wide initiatives, and have the opportunity to influence both the day-to-day operation and long-term success of Transfusion Services. MD Anderson offers competitive pay, an annual merit increase program, annual incentive opportunities, an employer-funded pension contribution, medical, dental and vision coverage, generous paid time off, and opportunities for professional growth and development.

If you're an SBB-certified transfusion medicine professional and an inspiring people leader who knows how to bring out the best in a team, drive accountability, and lead through change, this is an opportunity to make a significant impact on both your team and the patients they serve.
