ThedaCare is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Specialist Team Leader to perform complex pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic processes and may perform specimen collection. The role supports day-to-day operations, mentors staff, and ensures timely, accurate testing in a high‑volume clinical lab.
Located at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center in Appleton, WI, the position requires at least 0.5 FTE on bench with 40 hours weekly and potential off-shift exposure.

The Clinical Laboratory Specialist Team Leader performs complex pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic processes, and may perform specimen collection. Uses established knowledge base of clinical indications for laboratory testing and processing.
Performs complex processes including collecting bone marrow, performing and staining pathology frozen specimens, performing EKGs, processing and resulting send outs, and resulting moderately complex testing. Obtains specimens from inpatients and outpatients following proper identification protocols and appropriate techniques to maintain the integrity of the specimens and prioritizes collections to meet established turnaround times. Supports patient testing by performing waived testing, loading analyzers, and performing lab functions, as needed, to meet patient demands. Adheres to OSHA and ThedaCare department policies for specimen collection and handling to ensure a safe work environment. Provides training for new lab and non-lab team members to retain top talent. Performs specimen‑related computer functions with accuracy and speed including entering physician’s orders, processing cancelations, and entering add‑on tests to ensure regulatory compliance. Enters, activates, and/or reviews physician’s order in the system with accuracy for patient safety and quality. Maintains supplies and assists with inventory and ordering to ensure the availability of supplies to perform patient care responsibilities. Performs special specimen collections (i.e., legal specimen collections) to support patient testing and follow‑up as required by law. Collaborates with multiple disciplines to effectively and efficiently provide patient care and achieve the desired patient outcomes. Applies critical thinking to assess, plan, and implement day‑time operations, and communicates updates to team members. Delegates team member duties in relation to patient needs, and manages evolving demands from team members, physicians, equipment, and scheduling. Manages call schedule, revenue and usage audits, and meeting minutes, and is a super user with department diagnostic equipment and supplies.
