Job summary

Northwestern Medicine Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, IL is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist for the Blood Bone Bank. This full-time, third-shift position requires strict adherence to SOPs and timely, accurate reporting to physicians.

Responsibilities cover pre-analytic and analytic testing, specimen handling, QC and instrument maintenance, and ensuring regulatory compliance within a fast-paced clinical lab environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in Medical Technology/MLS with ASCP or equivalent certification eligibility.
• Must be ASCP certified or eligible within one year of hire if applicable.
• Experience with pre-analytic/analytic workflows in a clinical lab preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre-analytic workflow to ensure correct orders and specimen labeling.
• Carry out analytical testing per SOPs and report results to physicians.
• Verify orders and ensure accuracy of LIS data and specimen labeling.
• Perform QC, maintenance, and troubleshooting of instruments.
• Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and accreditation standards.
