Job summary

Virginia Commonwealth University Health Systems is seeking a Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Scientist/Clinical Laboratory Scientist to perform high-complexity testing and deliver timely results for patient care. The role requires strong teamwork, adherence to accreditation standards, and potential phlebotomy duties as needed.

Eligible candidates should hold BSCLS or Biology with NAACLS CLS/MT certification, with MSCLS preferred, and pursue required certifications post-hire.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science (BSCLS) or Biology with NAACLS CLS/MT cert.
• Master's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science (MSCLS) preferred.
• Must obtain ASCP/NCA/AMT certs within specified timelines.

Responsibilities

• Performs laboratory tests according to established procedures.
• Operates, maintains, troubleshoots, and validates lab equipment.
• Performs quality control and follows QA guidelines.
• Educates and trains laboratory personnel, students, and residents.
• Maintains laboratory supplies and inventory.
• May perform specimen collection and phlebotomy as applicable.
• Ensures accreditation standards (CAP, TJ, and others) are maintained.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
