Job summary

University of Mississippi Medical Center’s Children’s Lab is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist to perform a full range of laboratory tests and analyses to aid diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease. You will compile specific, technical, statistical and numerical data.

The role requires certification/registration within one year of hire (AAB, AMT, ASCP, NCA or equivalent). Proficiency in lab protocols, chemical analysis and data handling is essential, as well as ability to work with

Qualifications

• Knowledge of laboratory and experimental protocols and procedures.
• Knowledge of chemical composition, structure and properties of substances and of chemical processes and transformations they undergo.
• Knowledge of organisms, tissues, cells and their interactions.
• Ability to analyze and manipulate clinical and/or laboratory data.

Responsibilities

• Conducts clinical laboratory tests and analyses across hematology, microbiology, immunology, clinical chemistry, and urinalysis.
• Analyzes biological samples for chemical content or reaction.
• Performs chemical analysis of body fluids to detect normal and abnormal components.
• Cultivates, isolates and tests microbial organisms; prepares slides for microscopic study and diagnosis.
