Job summary

Yale New Haven Health is seeking a clinical laboratory technician to perform a wide range of laboratory tests with accuracy and timeliness. The role requires adhering to all policies, maintaining quality control, and supporting ongoing education and competency.

The incumbent will operate diverse instruments, perform routine QC, and assist with specimen processing and inventory, contributing to department-wide efficiency and patient care.

Responsibilities

• Understand and adhere to Performance Standards, Policies and Behaviors.
• Demonstrate knowledge and adhere to laboratory policies and procedures.
• Demonstrate technical competency by performing a wide variety of laboratory techniques, including moderate to highly complex tests.
• Operate instrumentation and benches independently.
• Operate department equipment safely per manufacturer guidelines.
• Perform preventative maintenance and troubleshoot instrument failures.
• Assist with training new employees and with specimen processing as needed.
• Assist with inventory management and control.
• Meet continuing education requirements.
• Participate in activities showing professionalism and career growth.
• Perform routine tests, instrument maintenance and QC procedures.
• Cover other lab sections to assure efficient operations.
