Job summary

SSM Health St. Joseph Hospital – St. Charles, IL, is seeking a Regular Medical Laboratory Technologist to interpret and report test results.

You will perform routine and complex analyses, including chemical, microscopic, and bacteriologic tests to support patient diagnosis and treatment. Under supervision, you will operate advanced instruments, maintain QC, and collaborate with physicians. No prior experience is required, associates degree or equivalent is accepted, with licensure eligibility as

Qualifications

• Associates degree or equivalent years of education/experience.
• No experience required.
• ASCP eligibility or state licensure considerations may apply.

Responsibilities

• Performs a full range of laboratory tests from simple to complex.
• Interprets test reports and communicates findings to physicians.
• Escalates unusual or critical results.
• Operates complex electronic equipment and precision instruments.
• Maintains accuracy of equipment and reagents through preventive maintenance.
• Assists providers in selecting appropriate lab tests.
• Performs and evaluates quality control procedures.
• Operates, calibrates, and troubleshoots instruments.
• Assists with hazardous materials storage and lab safety.
• Keeps current with literature and participates in meetings/seminars.
