Job summary

Advocate Health in Georgia seeks a Medical Laboratory Scientist to perform and report complex tests, ensuring accuracy, safety, and compliance with FDA, CAP, AABB, GDHR and Joint Commission standards.

You will operate and maintain equipment, use the Laboratory Information System, assist in training staff and students, manage reagents and inventory, and support continuous improvement while upholding confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Must have High School or GED; plus a Bachelor's degree with science coursework.
• Registration as Medical Laboratory Scientist by a recognized board; pass within 12 months if registry eligible.
• Core Lab and hematology experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform, review, and report complex lab tests per regulatory standards.
• Process workload timely; organize workstation; operate and maintain equipment.
• Analyze tests correctly; troubleshoot testing and QC per SOPs.
• Know Laboratory Information System; follow downtime procedures.
• Consult with leads/pathologist on unusual results.
• Prepare reagents and manage inventory to reduce waste.
• Assist in training new employees and student teaching.
• Assist in specimen collection; ensure safety and biohazard controls.
• Submit supply requests; restock as needed.
• Support special projects and maintain a positive environment.
• Maintain confidentiality; communicate effectively; adapt to changes.
