Job summary

UCLA Health and David Geffen School of Medicine is seeking a Per Diem Clinical Laboratory Scientist to contribute to fast-paced laboratory services across the Emergency Department, Anesthesiology, and Core Laboratory. You will process specimens, develop methods, perform tests, maintain instruments, and ensure quality control.

This day-shift role requires a California CLS license, a Bachelor's degree, weekend availability, and color-vision testing through Ishihara.

Qualifications

• Requires California CLS license and Bachelor's degree.
• Must be able to work weekends and holidays.
• Experience with high-volume chemistry testing is required.
• Experience with high-volume hematology testing is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Process specimens and document results.
• Develop and validate laboratory methods.
• Perform tests across Emergency Department, Anesthesiology, and Core Laboratory.
• Maintain instruments and perform quality control.
• Enter data accurately and ensure compliance.

Join our team as a Per Diem Clinical Laboratory Scientist, where you'll contribute to high-quality laboratory services in the Emergency Department, Anesthesiology, and Core Laboratory. In this role, you’ll handle specimen processing, method development, testing across multiple areas, instrument maintenance, quality control, and data entry.

Note: This position primarily covers the day shift, though additional shift coverage may be required based on operational needs.

Salary Range: $75.23 - $75.23/hour (flat rate)

May convert to career.

Qualifications

• Current and valid California Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) license.
• Bachelor’s degree.
• Availability to work weekends and holidays.
• Recent demonstrated technical competence in high volume chemistry/hematology.
• Must pass the Ishihara Color Vision exam, i.e. visual acuity including color differentiation.
• Two years of recent experience performing testing in a high volume laboratory, preferred.
