Schedule

Per Diem Evenings Shifts starting at 2:30 PM; variable weekends and nights.

Purpose Statement/Position Summary

The Clinical Lab Scientist performs a range of standard and/or technically demanding procedures in one or more of the Clinical Laboratory disciplines exercising initiative and independent judgment. Communicates technical or general information to their manager, director, & medical staff. Participate in administrative activities. Provides expertise and serves as a technical resource for others. May provide functional supervision to support staff.

Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience Required

• Minimum 1 year of post-baccalaureate clinical training as a Clinical Lab Scientist in a clinical laboratory OR
• Minimum 1 year of work experience as a CLS performing high complexity testing in hematology, chemistry, blood bank, and microbiology in a CLIA-certified clinical laboratory by the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS)

For Clinical Lab Scientist With Limited California License

• Minimum 1 year of post-baccalaureate clinical training, OR
• Minimum 1 year of work experience in the specialty area related to the license.

Preferred

• 1+ year of clinical experience in the specialty or subspecialty areas of the clinical laboratory preferred.
• ASCP Board of Registry certification as Medical Technologist, or other specialty preferred.

Education/Licensure/Certifications Required

Bachelor’s degree meeting California Department of Public Health (CDPH) Laboratory Field Services academic requirements.

Licensing

• Active California Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) License OR acceptable Limited California Licenses in specialty areas:
  • Clinical Microbiologist Scientist License
