Job summary

UCLA Health and David Geffen School of Medicine seeks a Clinical Laboratory Scientist in the Brentwood Annex to support Microbiology sections including Bacteriology, Mycobacteriology, Mycology, and Parasitology. You will perform urine and blood cultures, gram stains, fungal stains, and BD Max PCR, while troubleshooting instruments and preparing reagents.

Required: California CLS or CMS license and a Bachelor’s degree, plus strong Microbiology expertise and instrumentation know-how.

Qualifications

• Current California CLS or CMS license.
• Bachelor’s degree.
• Strong background and advanced training in Microbiology.
• Experience in Bacteriology, Mycology, Mycobacteriology, and Parasitology.
• Knowledge of instrumentation including BD Bactec FX, bioMerieux Vitek 2 and MS systems, centrifuges, water baths, analytical balance, fume hood, biological safety cabinet, and incubator.
• Proficient computer skills.
• Must pass the Ishihara Color Vision exam.

Join us as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist in the Microbiology lab at the Brentwood Annex. You will assist with various technical procedures in the Bacteriology, Mycobacteriology, Mycology, and Parasitology sections. Primary responsibilities include performing urine cultures, blood cultures, gram stains, fungal stains, and BD Max PCR, as well as troubleshooting laboratory instruments and reagent preparation.

Salary Range: $59.37 - $79.11/hour

Qualifications

• Current California Clinical Laboratory Scientist License (CLS) or Clinical Microbiology Scientist (CMS).
• Bachelor’s degree.
• Strong educational background and advanced training in Microbiology.
• Previous technical and practical experience in Bacteriology, Mycology, Mycobacteriology, and/or Parasitology.
• Demonstrated working knowledge of current instrumentation, including BD Bactec FX, bioMerieux Vitek 2 and MS systems, centrifuges, water baths, analytical balance, fume hood, biological safety cabinet, and incubator.
• Proficient computer skills.
• Must pass the Ishihara Color Vision exam, i.e. visual acuity including color differentiation.
