Qualifications

Job description

Join to apply for the Clinical Laboratory Scientist III role at AHMC HealthCare.

Under general supervision and medical direction, ensures prompt, efficient, and accurate performance of laboratory testing services within the assigned laboratory section. Responsible for one department/shift of the laboratory. Directs activity and reporting of test results performed by non-licensed personnel. Capable of performing all duties of a Medical Technologist II. Consults personnel for technical errors in the department/shift he/she is responsible for.

1. Analyze clinical laboratory specimens following standard methods and procedures.
2. Perform test calibrations and run Quality Control materials at appropriate intervals; evaluate results to decide whether tests should be reported.
3. Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
4. Evaluate the acceptability of analysis prior to releasing patient results.
5. Responsible for scheduled preventative maintenance and laboratory equipment calibration.
6. Accurately perform and record proficiency testing.
7. Review monthly QC and Levy Jennings charts as applicable.
8. Review monthly log sheet results as applicable.
9. Perform and review bi-annual correlation and linearity tests as applicable.
10. Review and update policies and procedures annually and/or as needed.
11. Manage inventory of supplies and reagents for the department.
12. Perform other duties as assigned.

Education/Training/Experience

• Six years of experience as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist required.
• Three years of hospital blood bank experience preferred.
• Previous supervisory experience preferred.
• Six months of hospital microbiology experience required (for those specializing in Microbiology).

Licenses/Certifications

• Current CA License as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist.
